I can't believe how much make up and beauty products I actually have. I also used to focus on what I didn't have, I was so stupid!I'd go to a make up store and think, gosh I don't have that blush or that lipstick, go to priceline and buy another restorative face mask or a moisturising hair mask.
Doing project 10 pan, I've been paying more attention to what I do have, and I have a lot of stuff. I think I honestly have enough tiny little conditioners, hair masks, treatments and gels to last at least 6 months, maybe enough body products to last 3 months and waaaaay to much make up.
Every day I'm making an effort to use a new product and to use something from my project 10 pan. I've even made a little beauty schedule for things like weekly manicures, face masks and hair treatments (at home of course) so I can actually use all the products that have been lying unused in my bathroom. To be honest, I'm having a lot of fun and I feel more spoilt then I ever did when I was buying the products and not using them.
I think everyone should have a little project this week to go into their bathroom cupboards and pull out something that's been pushed to the back of the cupboard unused and use it.
I,m in the enviable position of only ever havng to buy deodorant, shampoo and conditioner with everything else being supplied by my SIL she works in the beauty industry and is always giving us fragrances skincare or cosmetics
ReplyDeleteBut in saying that I still need to go in to my bathroon caabinet and tidy it out.
I am so with you on this one! I haven't bought any new shampoo or conditioner in almost 6 months and am doing fine just using up what I own!
ReplyDeleteI also find that when I declutter, it makes me use up what I have so much more. Going through my nail polish, for instance, I found that I have about 5 or 6 really similar bright pink/fuschia colours just because I would forget I'd already bought one.
I think I'm going to try your 10-pan approach, too! Sounds very clever.
Having a schedule is such a great idea. I went though a big purge last year when I got rid of eye shadows and nail polish that I hadn't used in ages.
ReplyDeleteNow, I have one make-up bag for everyday use, and one for "special occasions". My medicine cabinet is so much lighter, but I think that I can go back and still get rid of a few more items.
@Maureen, Lucky! When I was younger I used to get free makeup from my mum's co-workers who would buy expensive things at DJ's and myers and never use them. I blame them for the current state of my make up cabinet
ReplyDelete@Annabelle I have about the same amount of red nail polishes and all of them are barely used.
@fabulouslyfrugirl The schedule is awesome, I love it. Tomorrow I have a manicure and face mask to look forward to!
